Carolyn Chain

September 2, 1961 — April 9, 2025

Carolyn R. Chain, age 63 of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away on April 9, 2025 surrounded by her family after a courageous 9-year battle with cancer.

She was born September 2, 1961 in Chillicothe, Ohio, daughter of the late Rondeau Counts Jr. and Dorothy (Olson) Counts.

Carolyn was married to her husband, Keith Chain for 35 years. Together they created a life with family at the center. Carolyn loved being a mother to her two daughters, Emily and Sarah, and grandmother to her three granddaughters, Sophie, Riley and Ellie.

Carolyn was a graduate of Ohio University. She worked in many roles at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and retired with 42 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, country life and spending time with her family. Carolyn also enjoyed camping, entering flowers, volunteering and spending time with friends and family at the Ross County Fair each year.

Carolyn is survived by husband, Keith Chain; daughters Emily (David) Smith, of Chillicothe, Ohio and Sarah (Cody) McClain of Nevada, Ohio; granddaughters Sophie Smith, Ellie Smith and Riley McClain; two sisters and many nieces & nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by both parents; her sister, brother and a sister in-law.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Haller Funeral Home from 11:00am-1:00pm. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm in Rowland Cemetery.
