Carol L. Shantz, 73, of Chillicothe, formerly of Willoughby, OH went to be with the Lord Monday June 27, 2005, following an extended illness. She was born November 30, 1931 in Cleveland, OH the daughter of Herbert and Florence Tyler. On August 23, 1969 she married Arthur W. Shantz, who preceded her in death on March 10, 1995. Surviving are a brother, Bill (Sherry) Tyler; a nephew Bill (Brandy) Tyler, Jr.; a niece, Kristin (Rod) Morrison; two great nieces, Adrianna and Allison Tyler; a great nephew, Nathan Morrison; a step-son, Arthur (Hang) Shantz, Jr; a step-daughter, Mary Lee (John) Swynerton; three step-grandchildren, Denise, Chris, and Erin Swynerton,; and a host of friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a special friend, Edward Nelson. Carol graduated from Andrews School and went on to major in Journalism at Ohio University. Then she received her Masters Degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin. She worked for many years as the Vice President of Marketing for Cleveland Federal Savings and Loans. In 1986, she and her husband opened their own business, Vista Graphics. Then in 1987 she became Public Relations Director for the Euclid Public Library, where she worked until her retirement. Carol was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Altrusa, and Andrews Alumni Association. In 2002 she moved to Chillicothe to be closer to her brother's family and to watch her great nieces and nephew grow up. Carol's hobbies were reading, traveling, photography, and presenting slide documentaries of her travels. She also loved to go fishing in Canada with her family. Calling hours will not be observed. A memorial service will be held at a later time in Willoughby, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Andersonville United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, OH or the Willoughby United Methodist Church in Willoughby, OH. Arrangements are under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home.
