Carl Eugene Winfield, 68, of Chillicothe, died 2:50 am, Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 4, 1952 in Ross Co. to the late Lloyd and Grace Mayo Winfield. On September 17, 1971 he married Betty Lee Harris Winfield, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Carl Harris-Winfield, Jamar (Rebecca) Harris-Winfield, Leroy Koolest (Amy) Winfield and Jeremy "Bear" Winfield, all of Chillicothe; 42 grandchildren, including special grandchildren, Mersadees and Jacob; numerous great-grandchildren, including a special great-grandchild, Naomi; a brother, Lloyd Winfield, Texas, and a sister, Barb Pettiford, Greenfield. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn T. Winfield; a grandchild, Marcus; a great-grandchild, Trelynn; and six siblings, Demetrius, Beatrice, Glenn, Gary, Mary Joe, and Michael Winfield.
Mr. Winfield was a US Navy veteran and was well known in the community as a youth league baseball and football coach. He had worked at the VA Medical Center, and retired from Glatfelter as a packaging line operator. He was an avid golfer and Bengals fan, and he enjoyed hanging out with friends. His singing touched the hearts of many.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at Zion Baptist Church, with his son Jamar officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 11:00-1:00 Saturday at the church.
