Carl Sowers

Carl E. Sowers Carl E. Sowers, 75, of Chillicothe, died 7:08 am, Friday, August 25, 2006, in the VA Medical Center, Cincinnati, following an extended illness. He was born August 23, 1931 in Clarksburg, OH to Earl F. and Anna E. Rowland Sowers. On May 12, 1956 he married Georgia R. Mosley, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy (John) Finley, of Chillicothe, and Melody (David) Chinn, of South Point, OH; three sons, Rick (Debbie) Congrove, of Chillicothe, Ernie (Darlett) Sowers, of Nashville, and Tim (Lin) Sowers, of Frankfort; 16 grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy) Skaggs, Jodi and Andy Finley, Nathan (Rosie), and Justin Pettit, Brandon Chinn, Shane, Tyler and Caleb Congrove, Esther and Kyle Cancasci, Seth and Josh Sowers, Shannon and Regan, and Kristin and Cheyenne Sowers; several step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Sowers, Yonie Smith and Sean Cancasci; a step great-grandchild, Luna Cancasci; six sisters, Frances Sowers, of Circleville, Gladys Fellenstein, of Clarksburg, Annabelle (Charles) Gerhardt, of Cedarville, Ada Jo (Charles) Houser, of Clarksburg, Laura Dumm-Gerhardt, of Chillicothe, and Mary Lou Barret, of Florida; and a brother, Tom (Elizabeth) Sowers, of Washington CH; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Sowers, of Circleville, and Lorain Sowers, of Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Emmitt, Almer Eugene, and Paul Edwin Sowers. Carl was a retired farmer. He was an Army Korean Conflict Veteran. He served as a courier between Army camps. He was an avid gardener, a member of the Farm Bureau and the Mt. Logan Tractor Pulling Association. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday in the Haller Funeral Home, with Pastors Tim Robertson and Jim Vandagriff officiating. Burial will follow in Browns Chapel (Deerfield Township) Cemetery. Friends may call 2-5 pm Sunday or one hour prior to the service at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to Overly Chapel Church, at the corner of Rocky and Marietta Roads.
