Carl Richard Hice, 75, of Chillicothe, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born in Ross County on June 14, 1938 to the late Crosby and Ethel (Poole) Hice. On April 26, 1958 he was united in marriage to Helen Jean Dennewitz who survives. Also surviving are his children, Karla Hice, of Columbus, Jodi Kelley, of Chillicothe; and Gregory Hice, also of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Payton Mead, Kessa and Kati Hice; three great-grandchildren, Melissa and Zoe Hice, and Alaina Hice; a sister, Sharon (Jim) Cunningham, of Chillicothe; two brothers, Larry (Aretta) Hice, and David (Nancy) Hice, all of Chillicothe; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by seven siblings. Carl retired as a painter with 40 years of service from the Mead Paper Company. He was also a member of the Sunrush Church of Christ. In his spare time, he loved working in the dirt, and was an avid hunter. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mt. Carmel West. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, Preacher James Rankhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
