Cameron Detty

Cameron L. Detty died unexpectedly at his residence on April 1, 2016. He was born on September 4, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to Willard Cameron and Jewell (Hayth) Detty. He was married to Pamela R. Sharp on November 4, 1967. He is survived by his wife, Pam, his mother Jewell Dickerson, of Waverly; his daughter, Stacia Bouillion (Shawn Skaggs) of Frankfort, his son Cory Detty (Thao Le) of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren Jill and Drew Bouillion; former son-in-law, Jamey Bouillion of Chillicothe; five sisters: Lynn (James "Butch") Smith of Polk City, Florida, Karen Hartley of Kissimmee, Florida, Jean Dickerson of Waverly, Susie (Tom) Allie of Chillicothe and Gala Bender of Logan; sisters-in-law Betsy (Robert) Swepston of Kingston, Diane Lytle of Atlanta, Georgia; aunts Verna Fry of Mt. Vernon, Rose (Harry) Benson of Chillicothe and an uncle, Larry (Nancy) Detty of Chillicothe; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Detty, step-father, Gene Dickerson and step-mother, Thelma Detty. Cam graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1964. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps (1966-1968). He was a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. After 40 years he retired from I.B.E.W., Local 575. He was a member and Past Post Commander of American Legion Post 62, AmVets Post 4; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 108; Eagles Aerie #600, served for several years on the Ross County Labor Council and was a Kentucky Colonel. Cam enjoyed deer hunting, mushroom hunting, and playing golf. He will be missed by his family and friends. Pap loved watching his grandkids, Jill and Drew, participate in their school activities. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Paint Valley Local Schools, 7454 US Rt. 50, Bainbridge, OH 45612, to support cross country, band, girls basketball, track and softball. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will be held at 11:00am Tuesday in Twin Twp. Cemetery with Pastor B. Jay Dailey officiating. Friends may call Monday from 4-8pm at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
