Buford Richardson

Buford L. Richardson, 74, of Chillicothe, died at 2:54am Thursday, September 29, 2011, in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born July 21, 1937, in Marion, VA, to the late E. G. "Bill" and Ruby (Vernon) Richardson. On May 6, 1970, he married the former Lennie E. Sisk, who preceded him in death on September 17, 1990. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Tammi and Brian Sams; daughter Sharon Richardson; grandchildren Michaela and Ashton Sams; and Mecca Richardson, all of Chillicothe; and his sister Lynda Richardson Hill, of Knoxville, TN. He was predeceased by his step-son William A. "Skip" Smith; a sister Edwina R. Duncan; a brother and sister-in-law Arlis and Betty Richardson; and his mother-in-law Betty E. Sisk. Buford retired from Roadway Express after more than 20 years of service as a terminal manager. He served his country in the US Air Force. He enjoyed camping, NASCAR, and watching college football, especially the Tennessee Volunteers. But his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his grandkids. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, October 3, in the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Gilbert officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am-1pm Monday at Haller Funeral Home.
