Bruce Watts

Bruce E. Watts, 70, of Chillicothe, died at 1:22pm March 27, 2024, at Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.




He was born February 12, 1954, in Heidelberg, Germany, the son of Ret. Col. Edward L. and Dorothy (Jones) Watts.  On August 4, 1978, he married the former Mary L. Greer, who survives.




In addition to Mary, he is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law Anthony (Emily) Watts, of Columbus, Matt Watts, of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Alexandria, Brianna, Wyatt, Walker, Weston, Grayson and Kinsley Watts; nieces Jackie (Aaron) Greenburg, and Lindsay Noll; a nephew Michael Collet; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Michael Greer, Martha Greer, Marcia Lechner, Marilyn Greer and Margie (Bill) Collet.  He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew Brandon Peterson.




Bruce was a graduate of Adena High School, Class of 1972 and received his Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University.  He retired from the State of Ohio, Dept. of Public Safety as Manager of Business Services.  Bruce will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who embraced his patriarch role.  He was an avid OSU Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals fan, and enjoyed playing golf.




A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Frank Brown, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.




In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society of St. Peter, 285 W. Water St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
