Bonnie Thomas

Bonnie Lou Thomas, 86, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on Friday April 7, 2023. Bonnie was born July 19, 1936, in Chillicothe to her mother Ruth Gatliff and father Edward George.  Preceding her death was her husband David E. Thomas, Sr.; her sons Robert Lamar Thomas and David E. Thomas, Jr.; a grandson John Parker II; her brother Robert Gatliff; and sister Donna Haithcock.

Surviving are her children: Thea Gatliff, and Bonita Thomas (Stewart Garrette); grandchildren: Jason Parker, Jacqueline Gatliff, Lamar Thomas, Christa (Joshua) Rubin, Chelsea (Henderson) Miller, and Chase Thomas (Cassie Ward); great-grandchildren: Jkuana Jones, Neveah Rubin, Jace Rubin, Chance Rubin, Capri Miller and Halo Miller; sisters-in-law Georgia Jones, Josephine Wingo, Donna Thomas and Judy Brown; a brother-in-law O.D. McCrary; a host of nieces and nephews, including Marie Jones; and many special friends including Shirley Harris, Cora Conley, Worletta Mask, and Ursula Frye.

Bonnie was a proud member of Quinn Chapel AME Church and was committed to serving on the trustee board and kitchen committee, which she truly loved. Bonnie enjoyed making her famous Texas sheet cake and putting smiles on many who enjoyed it. Bonnie also enjoyed her BINGO and game nights. Most importantly, she loved showing love to all her many family members and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, April 13, at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, with Pastor Victor Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12-1pm Thursday at the church.
