Bobbie Thomas Washington Sr., 81, of Chillicothe, died December 20, 2023.
Bobbie was born on January 8, 1942 in Lexington, KY to John William Washington and Nell (Thomas) Washington. He fought hard the last nine months to recover from a TBI. He passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones.
He graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High in Lexington before joining the USAF where he served for 20 years. These were some of the best times of his life as he traveled the United States and abroad installing and repairing communication equipment literally all over the world. After retiring from the military, he worked for the VA, RCA/Thomson, MedCare, and finally First Capital Enterprises until Covid made him retire. He spent most of his life sharing stories from his early life, his military days, and his experiences of life. The way he related to others was through his own experiences. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, his grandson Austin, his daughter Denise, the mother of his children Ethel, and his wife Dianiah.
Bobbie leaves to cherish his memory his children Tamara Washington (Chillicothe) and Bobbie (Jennifer) Washington (Grove City, OH), his stepsons Myron Brown (Washington CH) and BW Brown (Chillicothe). He leaves his grandchildren Christian Watterson and Onnika Goins (Tampa FL), Nicholas (Hoeyeon) Mickey (Evans Mills, NY), Ryland Mickey (Chillicothe, OH) and Emma, Kellan, and Noelle Washington of Grove City, OH. He also leaves his sister Gloria (Leroy) Johnson of Dayton, OH, brother Pierre (Mary) Washington of Hendersonville, NC, sister Helen Downing of Lexington, KY, brothers-in-law Robert (Vonnie) Harris, Thomas Lee, Gregory Lee, and Dezi (June) Lee and sisters-in-law Toyia (Earl) Crosswhite and Charlene Lee as well as a host of nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.
Over the last nine months Bobbie and his family were helped tremendously by many healthcare professionals. The family wants to extend our thanks to them all but especially to Ms. Shiela and the staff at The Laurels of Hillsboro who cared for him during this last chapter in his life. The care you showed him will always be remembered.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Pastor Obidiah Harris officiating, and Elder Drake Harris and Elder Marshall Upshaw assisting. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 11:00-1:00 Wednesday at Haller's.
