Betty Tillis

Betty L. Tillis, 80, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Chillicothe, died December 31, 2007, at St. Vincent Medical Center, Jacksonville, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday January 5, 2008, at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. Friends may call Saturday from 11am until 1pm at Haller Funeral Home. Betty was born April 9, 1927, in Stockdale, OH to the late Stephen Blaine and Mahala Ward Sturgell. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Toni (Robert) Davis; Ella Dreitzler, all of Jacksonville, FL; Susan Dreitzler, Waverly; Emily (Ed) Little, Chillicothe; sons and daughters-in-law Terry (Cathy) Carroll, Londonderry; and Timothy (Brenda) Carroll, Orange Park, FL; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister Helen Spetnagle, of Richmond Dale; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Lillian "Lil" Howison; Lavina Bandy; and brothers Kelson, Russell, and Buel Sturgell. Betty was a graduate of Southeastern High School, Class of 1945. She was a member of Crystal Springs Baptist Church, in Jacksonville. She enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid cook and was musically talented.
