Betty L. Mettler, 72, of Kingston, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born September 14, 1939 in Yellowbud to John and Marybelle Parker Cowens. She married the late Jack Lee Mettler, who died April 28, 1999. Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Sue Mettler, Circleville and Tammy (Virgil "Marty") Havens, Kingston; a son, John (Elana) Mettler, Circleville; grandchildren, Matthew Berry, Dylan and Maranda Havens, Zach (Sarah) Mettler, and Scott (Amy) and Ryan (Jody) Marcum; great-grandchildren, Josie Mettler, and Nolan, Braxton, and Marli Marcum; two brothers, her twin, Bob (Berta) Cowens, Gallatin, TN and Charles (Joann) Cowens, Xenia; several nieces and nephews; and her constant canine companion, Scruffy. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, John D. Cowens. Mrs. Mettler supported St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the S.P.C.A. She felt her biggest accomplishment in life was her three children. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Barry Bennett officiating.
