Betty Jane McKinnis, 94, of Chillicothe, went to be with her Lord on January 7, 2025, at her residence, peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was born August 20, 1930, in Chillicothe, to the late Sherman William and Margaret Ellen (McCorkle) Bost. On June 14, 1957, she married Paul McKinnis, who preceded her in death on April 9, 2004.
Surviving are her daughters Cheri L. (Larry) Carter; and Betty Rae (Travis) Rice, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Bethann (Bobby) Riddle, of Frankfort, Brian Paul (Desiree) Sharp, Chillicothe, and Anthony Ray (Niki Catoe) Carrera, of New Port Richey, FL; great-grandchildren: Danielle, Tylor, Hannah, Matthew, Katelyn, Alex, Josh, Jordan, Lainey, Rylee "Dude;" great-great-grandchildren: Dawson, Savannah, Sadie, Penn, Hattie, Tripper, Alivia, Aviree, Kynslee, Madilyn, Riverlyn, Koast, Jones, and Pauly; her sister Phyllis Mitchell, of Chillicothe; and a whole slew of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Paul Leo McKinnis; and her siblings: Milford Bost, Judson Bost, Harry Bost, Marge Duffy, Mary Doughty, Jean Ramsey, Mabel Spetnagel, Francis Sharp, Richard Bost and Robert Bost.
Jane was a member of Brookside Church, where she sang in the choir and worked in the food pantry. She loved to dance and get "dressed to the Nines!" She worked mostly as a waitress but also cleaned homes and did some catering. She will be remembered for living life to the fullest. Above all, she loved her family and her Lord with all of her heart.
Her funeral service will be held at 6pm Monday, January 13, at Brookside Church with Pastor Ryan Bash officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-6pm at the church.
