Betty Janssen

Betty M. Janssen, 80, of Chillicothe, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born February 28, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio to Charles and Catherine Groomes. At the age of 13, she came to Chillicothe to live with her foster parents, Joe and Julie Weisenberger. On April 16, 1966, Betty was joined in marriage to her loving husband, Theodore "Ted" Janssen, who preceded her in death in August 2017. Betty was an amazing, loving mother to Andy, Renee, and David (her son-in-law), all of whom survive. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and her foster sister Cris Chandler. In addition to her parents and spouse, Betty is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Minister, Ellie Hackbarth, Virginia Crevison, Charles Groomes, Bill Groomes, as well as her foster siblings, Tess Ritchart and Tony Weisenberger. Betty retired in 2006 as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant at St. Peter's Church. Her true calling, however, was as a wife and mother which she met head on with her entire heart and soul. She was a true blessing and will be greatly missed. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ross County Humane Society.
