Betty Lou Hall passed away on her favorite holiday, Halloween, October 31, 2015 at the Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born December 13, 1923 to Daniel and Bess Ann Nusbaum in Cass, Indiana. Betty was predeceased by five brothers and a sister. Betty graduated from the Indiana University School of Nursing in 1945. She married Robert E. Hall April 10, 1946 in Cass, Indiana on his return home from World War II. Betty will be greatly missed by her children, Rebecca Hall Kaplan (Kenneth) Croton-on-Hudson, NY; Theresa Hall Leopold (Mark) Racine, WI; Jeff Hall (Theresa) Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren Megan Leopold Mazurak (Greg); Matthew Leopold (Sara); Adam Leopold; Sarah Kaplan Evans (Zach); Gabriel Hall; step-grandchildren Luke and Matt Wagner; and great grandchildren; Logan, Madelyn, Beckett, and Griffin Mazurak and Cora Leopold. She adored her nieces and nephews, extended family and countless amazing friends. Betty retired in 1987 after 26 years as assistant head nurse of the ICU/CCU at the Adena Regional Medical Center. She remained active as a member of Nurses Guild 4 and was named Ross County's Nurse of the Year in 2001. In retirement Betty really got to work in volunteering tirelessly for the community she loved. She was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Food Network, the Pump House Center for the Arts, Ross County Visitor's Bureau, the Ross County Board of Elections and member of the Tyler Methodist Church. Betty also worked in the gift shop and was a docent at the Adena Mansion and Gardens where she portrayed Mrs. Worthington until she was told for historical accuracy she could no longer wear makeup. These were terms she could not accept. Betty had to have her red lipstick. Betty Hall had a gift for making people feel special and loved. She sent countless birthday cards, thank you notes and words of encouragement in her impeccable handwriting always signing off with xoxo. She loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle and was an avid reader. She was a shameless flirt. Her chicken and noodles were legendary. She could deliver a punchline with perfect comedic timing. And then she would laugh until tears came down her cheeks. She hated a mess. She was a champion for her children and causes she believed in. She was the sweetest heart we knew. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Adena Regional Medical Center and the National Church Residences for their exemplary professional and compassionate care of our mother. The Hall Family invites those who knew and loved Betty to a celebration of her life which will be held at 11:00am Friday November 6, 2015 at Haller Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Haller Funeral Home on Thursday, November 5, from 4:00 - 8:00pm. In honor and celebration of Betty, memorials to the Good Samaritan Food Network or the Pump House for the Arts are appreciated. Please remember Betty by doing an unsolicited act of kindness for someone in need. Her family loved her dearly and will never forget her example of strength, wit and grace. xoxo
