Bertha Jane Watson, 83, of Chillicothe, died at 4:35 pm on March 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
She was born on January 16, 1940, in Chillicothe, to John E. and Constance M. (McCormick) Reed. On August 10, 1958 she married Glen V. Watson, who survives. Also surviving are her son Tracey (Cheryl) Watson of Chillicothe; daughter Crystal (Matt) Prichard of South Salem; her grandchildren Robert "Tony" Watson (Rachel); Kathryn Lawrence (Jamason); Megan Watson; Rachael (Edward) Carr; great grandsons Lukas and Miles Carr. Brothers, Robert (Anni) Reed of Colorado Springs, CO; Lloyd (Patty) Reed of Chillicothe. Sisters, Constance England-Garrison of Chillicothe and Charlotte (Robert) Reed Parker of Cincinnati; special Aunt Donna (Les) True of Grove City and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, many aunts and uncles and brothers-in-law Lyman England and William Garrison.
Bertha was a proud graduate of Chillicothe High School Class of 1958, and worked at Big Bear when it opened it 1956. She later worked as a Payroll Tax Specialist at Rubbermaid, Petland, Wearever, Eaton IDT and retired in 2010 from USEC in Piketon.
She loved watching the birds and butterflies in her flower garden, playing canasta with her card clubs, traveling with friends but her favorite past time was spending time with her family. Bertha was active in many organizations that include the Southeastern Band Parents, Springfield Twp. Ladies Auxiliary, Chillicothe Paints Booster Club, High Street CCCU and the Mount Carmel UMC. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or NCR Hospice in her honor.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Rev. Carol Davis, Rev. Mike Rhoads, and Rev. Aaron Hines officiating. Friends may call 5-8 pm Friday at Haller's. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
