Bertha Cousins

Bertha Cousins, 70, of Chillicothe, OH, went home to be with the Lord after fighting the good fight of faith on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 12:11am. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who never met a stranger.

Bertie was born in Chillicothe, OH on June 28, 1950 to Amos Cousins and Ruby (Wright) Cousins. She is survived by her daughter, Teisha (Devin) Robinson, of Charlotte, NC; her beloved grandchildren, Creed and Kingston Robinson; and sister, Bessie Cousins. Special friends include the late William and Catherine Cunningham family (Zelma, Maria, Joann, Wilmetta, Carolyn, & Junior), Alice (Tim) Cunningham, her "Penny Pincher" club, and traveling buddies. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Ruby Cousins; and a brother Amos Jr.

Bertie graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1968. She went on to work at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, OH in various roles over the course of her career. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, where she would volunteer her time and do whatever was needed to be of service to the Lord. Bertie's love of people was apparent in her desire to be of help to anyone in need. Although she never quite acquired a green thumb with plants, she was able to sow countless seeds in the lives of everyone she met. She loved spending time with her family and friends, in addition to reading, shopping, and spoiling her grandkids!

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe, OH, with the Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00am-1:00pm, prior to the start of the funeral.
