Bertha E. "Bert" Bell, 81, of Chillicothe, died at 8:00pm Friday, May 1, 2015, at Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born January 8, 1934, in Chillicothe, to the late John and Bernice (Dawson) Corrigan. On June 30, 1951, Bertha married the late William A. Bell, who preceded her in death April 29, 2013. Surviving are her children: Chef William Bell; Carol Pontious; Nancy (Jeff) Sanford; Timothy (Tonya) Bell; Karen Brown; Janet (Mike) Block; and James "Mike" (Shawna) Bell; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister Ellen (Robert) Boggs. She was predeceased by her sister Florence Depugh; a brother Lloyd Corrigan; and a son-in-law Paul E. Pontious. Bertha dedicated her life to raising her seven children. She had attended Catholic Central High School and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, crafts, cooking, golfing and volunteering at the Pioneer School. Bert was an avid supporter and volunteer at the Ross Co. Shrine Club, the Hillbillies and volunteered at Unioto grade school. Funeral services will be held at 8:00pm, Monday, May 11, at Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 6-8pm Monday at Haller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Co. Shrine Club, PO Box 371, Chillicothe, OH 45601; or the American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017.
