Bernard “Bernie” Urdak, 83, of Frankfort, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, June 19, 2026 at home, following a brief illness.
He was born February 3, 1943, in Caldwell, Ohio, son of the late John Joseph and Catherine (Peros) Urdak.
Surviving is his sister, Elaine (Denny) Gerst, of Caldwell, Ohio; his special adoptive family, Teri Harchar and Mark Smith; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. He was lovingly known as “Papaw Bernie” by Diamond Ray Smith, who especially loved playing army men and blocks with him on the living room floor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dan Urdack, Dorothy Schott, Paul Urdak, Robert Urdak, Bill Urdak, Tom Urdak, Don Urdak, Jim Urdak, and infant Charles Urdak.
Bernie worked as a truck driver for many years before retiring. As his health began to deteriorate, he loved spending time with Teri, Mark, Diamond, and their family dog. He had a witty personality and a great sense of humor that will be deeply missed.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation services are being performed and he will be take to the family farm in Caldwell, Ohio to be laid to rest with his siblings.
