Barbara Turpen

Barbara M. Turpen, 74, of Engelwood, FL, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 11:20pm July 1, 2010, in Venice Regional Medical Center, Venice, FL. She was born August 17, 1935, in Chillicothe, to the late Charles B. and Nancy J. Travis Madru. On August 21, 1953, she married Charles W. Turpen, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 21, 2000. Surviving are their children: son and daughter-in-law Charles B. (Becky) Turpen, of Wakefield, OH; son Robert Wiley Turpen, of Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Melissa (Raul) Corona, of Engelwood, FL; grandchildren: Raul Charles Corona and Angelina Maria Corona; brothers David (Barbara) Madru and Steve Madru; sisters Linda (Roger) Gray and Patricia DePugh, all of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews including Danny (Creta) Corrigan; Kathleen T. DePugh; and Dennis M. DePugh; and special friends Karen and Jeff Brewer; June Good; and Ellen Freeman. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother Charles Madru, Jr.; brothers-in-law Michael DePugh and William Turpen; and a sister-in-law Ruth Turpen. Barb was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was a Franciscan and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00am Thursday, July 8, 2010, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm at HALLER FUNERAL HOME, where a wake service will be held at 7:45pm. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made in her name to St. Mary Catholic Church, 61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
