Barbara Jean (Groves) Swick, 78, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday Afternoon, April 12, 2024, at her home, following an extended illness.
She was born September 30, 1945, in Delaware, Ohio, daughter of the late Stanley Bush and Ruth Edna (Blackledge) Groves. On October 25, 1985, she married her beloved husband, Lawrence Raymond Swick, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Jeanette (Jan) Ferriman, and Corky Mitchell; grandchildren, Todd Hamm, Tyler Kimbleton, Tasha Vipperman, Albree Mitchell, Rachel Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Vicky Ferrell, and Tony Rine; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorthey Headings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dean Paul Mitchell and Ansel Wayne Mitchell; a grandson, Michael Mitchell; as well as several brothers and sisters.
Barbara was a graduate of Elm Valley High School. She went on to obtain her bachelor's degree in business from Columbus State University. Upon her graduation, she went on to work as a secretary for the State of Ohio for many years before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time in her garden and crocheting. She also loved spending time with her dog, Teddy.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation services will be performed. The family will announce a celebration of life service at a future date.
