Barbara Stauffer

Barbara L. Stauffer, 89, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday evening, December 6, 2024, at Hopewell Grove Nursing Facility following an extended illness.



She was born July 9, 1935, in Chillicothe, daughter of the late John B. and Dorothy M. (Cottrill) Mead. Barbara met the love of her life at the Skate-A-Way in town, where they could frequently be found attending skating parties and events. On February 11, 1958, she married him, her beloved husband, Richard L. Stauffer, who preceded her in death on December 26, 1994.



She is survived by her beloved family members; her daughter, Beth (Mike) Miller; her son-in-law, Paul Thacker; her grandchildren, Seth (Brooke) Miller, Geoffrey (Laura) Miller, Amanda (Doug) Miller, Jackie (Brian) Ramsey, and Mary (Jason) Morgan; her great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Elizabeth, Jada, Knox, Boone, and Koe; her siblings, Danny L. Mead and Diana L. (Charles) Collins; sister-in-law, Fern Belcher; brother-in-law, Donald Blessing; and special friend, Vivian Straight along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Susan L. Thacker; three brothers, John Jr., Robert, and Glenn Mead; and four sisters, Dorothy Miller, Patricia Blessing, Bonnie Clever, and Carolyn Mead.



Barbara was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, class of 1953. She went on to work for Big Bear and later Elder-Beerman department store.



The family would like to extend a heartfelt and sincere thank you to the National Church Residences staff members for their love and care during her illness.



A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.
