Barbara J. (Veris) Scott, 89, of Chillicothe, died peacefully at her home at 5:37am on August 15, 2024, following an extended illness. She was born August 19, 1934, in Chillicothe, to the late Robert Wright and Gladys Marie (Veris) Farrow.
Barbara is survived by her children and their spouses: Kim Allen (Jenise) Veris, of Strongsville, OH, Kevin J. Scott, of Chillicothe, Angela K. (Wendell) Scott-Tucker, of Reynoldburg, OH, and Valerie J. Scott, of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Justin Veris, Kyle (Colleen) Veris, Cameron Tucker, Kayla Tucker, Kevin (Jessica) Scott II, and Keipher Scott; and five great-grandchildren: Luca and Londyn Veris; Tianna and Giona Tucker and Jaxon Scott; nephew Shannon Farrow; cousins Garin Veris, and Jessica, Shawna, Gina and Caitlyn Turner.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather Floyd Farrow II, brothers: Floyd "Skip" Farrow and Micah Farrow; niece, Chene Farrow; dear cousin, Judy (Veris) Turner; aunt Mary Belle (Veris) Graves, uncle Howard E. Veris; and grandparents Asa and Louise (Richardson) Veris.
Barbara was a graduate of Frankfort High School, Class of 1952. She retired as an Agent Cashier at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1989 and later served as a Teachers' Aide for the Chillicothe City School System. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Barbara enjoyed reading and watching sports on TV. She loved LeBron James & the Los Angeles Lakers and the Ohio State University Buckeye basketball teams.
In accordance with her wishes, following cremation, graveside service will be held at 11:30am Thursday August 29, 2024, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, led by cousins Pastor Obediah Harris and Pastor Melvin Maughmer, under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
Barbara's children wish to offer special thanks to Adena Hospice and extended family Ms. Melanie Jadwin-Burgan and Ms. Billie Barnes for their love and care to our mother.
