Barbara L Osborne

Jan 11, 1940 — Aug 21, 2026

Chillicothe

Barbara L. (Kellough/Ray) Osborne, 86, of Chillicothe, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away on August 21, 2026. She was born on January 11, 1940, to the late Orlando and Jessie (Grubb) Kellough. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, C. Fredrick Ray, in 1958. Their union continued until he passed in 1985. She was married to Richard C. Osborne from 1998 until he passed away in 2011.

Surviving are her children, Cynthia Mendenhall, C. Greg (Carmen) Ray, David (Kathy) Ray; grandchildren, Allison Mendenhall (Sergio Vignali), Kaitlynn Mendenhall (Craig Greyvenstein), Jessica (Cyrus) Porter, Tyler (Katie) Ray, Travis (Delanie) Ray; great grandchildren, Selah, Lydia, Timothy, Trace, Dominic, Isaac; and sister-in-law, Norma Kellough. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she is preceded in death by her sister, Naomi (Jim) Cottrill and brother, Marlin Kellough.

She had worked as a bookkeeper and later owned and operated her own income tax preparation business.

More importantly, Barb lived a life wholly focused on loving Jesus and loving others. She did both with full abandon. She had worked with youth groups, taught numerous Sunday school classes, and always contributed to her church in impactful ways. She joined Brookside Church around 2000 and not only found her home but connected with great purpose and intention. Brookside held a special place in her heart. Through the years, she poured her administrative gifts, her time, and her passion into many ministries and outreaches there. More than a church, Brookside became family to Barb. She loved its people deeply, and in her own special way, she mothered many of them. She continued to love, serve, and care for her Brookside family until her very last day on Earth.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the most blessed by her love and generosity. She never missed a birthday, or special event, and kept in touch with the whole family by sending a group message every single night. If she had one fault in loving her family, it would be that she may have loved us all a little too much.

Barb’s beautiful life of love, kindness, encouragement, service, and always with that great big smile, leaves a legacy that will remain with all who knew her. She showed us that life does not have to be extraordinary to be deeply significant. Life simply has to be lived with faith and love. Her life begs us all to consider how we are living the one precious life we’ve been given. If she were to have one more conversation with you, she’d more than likely inquire about how prepared you are to meet Jesus.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00 am - 12:00pm, with the service beginning at 12:00 pm at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her honor to Brookside Church, 2215 Egypt Pike, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
