Barbara Melchert

Barbara J. Melchert, 74, of Chillicothe, died at 8:25am Monday, November 24, 2014, at Signature Health Care. She was born October 24, 1940, in Chillicothe to the late Robert E. and Norma J. (Snow) Click. She is survived by her daughter Cindy (Wellinghoff) Davis, of Waverly; grandchildren: Tracy Bettendorff (Carey Ackley), Chillicothe; Nathan Rudd, Waverly; and Jubal Davis, Waverly; and great-grandchildren: Allie Huddleston, Hayden McBee, Ryder McBee, Lane Ackley, Nora Ackley and Stefani Rudd. She was predeceased by her parents, son Steve Melchert, step-father Paul E. Huffman; an aunt Frances G. Kerns; grandparents John M. and Kathleen (Ensko) Snow; R.L. and Pearl Click; former husbands Jerry Wellinghoff and Eugene "UE" Melchert; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Barb retired in 2002 from the Mead Paper Co. where she worked as a quality assurance inspector on #12 machine. She was a member of the American Legion, Post 62 and served her country in the US Army from 1961-1964 at Ft. Monroe, VA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, December 1, at the Haller Funeral Home. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Monday from 11am – 1pm at Haller Funeral Home.
