Barbara Mckell

Barbara R. (Knisley) McKell, 64, of Chillicothe, died Nov. 2, 2022, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.   She was born September 6, 1958, in Chillicothe, to the late Calvin and Thelma (Eaton) Knisley. On September 15, 1979, she married Robert K. McKell, who preceded her in death on October 7, 2005.   Surviving are her children: Emmalee (Christopher) Wallace, of New Albany, OH, Benjamin (Kirstie) McKell, of Hilliard, OH; her partner Curt Minney, Chillicothe; grandchildren: Kylee, Kameron, Zane and Nash; step-children: Aric (Niki) Minney and Reed (Mandy) Minney; step-grandchildren: Teddy, Lucy, Lucas and Gracie; sisters Stacia Haas, Kathy (Brooks) Conn, and Laurel Call; in-laws Peggy (Gary) Seitz, Mary Lee (Terry) Logan, David (Lisa) McKell, and Kathy Gray (Jim McKell); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Chuck Knisley; in-laws Dr. David (Faye) McKell and Beverly Kenworthy; and brothers-in-law Jim McKell and Greg Haas.   Barbara grew up in Bainbridge and was a member of 4-H as a youth. She was a 1976 graduate of Paint Valley High School where she competed in both volleyball and basketball, participated in many clubs and was a member of the National Honor Society.   After high school she graduated from The Ohio State University Barber College, which launched a career that included Mack's Mustache, Corner Cutter and Focal Point. For 20 years, Barbara enjoyed connecting with her clients, many of whom became lifelong friends.   Barbara was a member of the Chillicothe Junior Civic League as well as The Chillicothe Country Club, and later in life enjoyed volunteering at Paint Valley Ministries Food Pantry.   Barbara was many things to many people: a fierce protector of her family, an adventurous spirit, the fun aunt, devoted community volunteer, ornery baby sister, the life of the party and cherished friend. If you were lucky enough to be in Barbara's orbit, there was no shortage of laughter and love. May we all carry that sparkle in our eye as Barbara did so well.   The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and care teams at Adena Regional Medical Center, University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center who helped give us many additional years of enjoyment with Barbara.   A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory in Chillicothe with Pastor Scott Campbell officiating.
