Chillicothe

Barbara Anne Fabrey, 70, of Chillicothe, passed away early Thursday morning, May 14, 2026, at her home, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born July 15, 1955, in the City of Orange, New Jersey, daughter of the late Warren and Elaine (Harrop) Hill. On September 17, 1977, she married her beloved husband, Douglas F. Fabrey, who survives.

Also surviving is her daughter, Laura (Chris) Stevens; beloved grandchildren, Adalynn and Carter Stevens; her sister, Nancy Duggan; her nieces, Brietta (Pete) Arbona, and Aileen Duggan; as well as numerous other cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Barbara was a graduate from the University of Maine, class of 1977 and from Ohio Northern University with a Juris Doctor in 1981. She had a varied legal career working with private firms, as a prosecutor, student legal services, and legal aid. She finished her career as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawaii. She was a member of a church wherever she lived, most recently First Presbyterian Church in Chillicothe. Barbara enjoyed singing in the choir, served as a deacon and volunteered at the children’s clothing bank for over 18 years. She was also a member of The Nathaniel Massie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Chillicothe. In her free time, she loved traveling; especially taking cruises. She also enjoyed playing the guitar, reading, and wrote poetry as a way to express herself throughout life.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A memorial service is being planned at the church and will be announced in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to sponsor a child with Compassion International to help those in need.
