Audra E. Slater, 86, died July 24, 2015 at Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. She was born February 7, 1929, the second of eight children, to the late Roy and Versie (Williams) Williamson in Pikeville, KY. The daughter of a coal miner, she grew up in Cinderella Hollow and on June 20, 1953, married William G. Slater. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before he passed away in February earlier this year. Surviving are her son, Richard Steven Slater of Lebanon, OH; her daughter and son-in-law Stephanie (John) Evans of Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Benjamin Slater, Michael and Andrew Baker; Luke, Eli and Isabelle Evans; great-grandchildren: Madeline Aiko Slater; Chase, Natalie, Ethan and Brendan Baker; a brother, Carlon Williamson and sisters, Dorothy Hassloch and Judy Ledbetter, all of Georgetown, KY. She is pre-deceased by her parents, a brother, Buddy Williamson and sisters, Avonell Radcliff, Norma Fitch and Glenna Sandefur. Audra spent many years working full time as a bookkeeper but saw her real purpose in life as a homemaker and caregiver. She always had a full breakfast and a warm dinner on the table for her family and she took great pride in caring for the ones she loved. Her family meant the world to her. After retirement, she found great joy in babysitting and became especially close to Megan and Erin Danneker, who she loved as much as she loved her own grandchildren. Over the years Audra also found joy in her bowling league and card club, her music and her friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Tuesday, July 28, at the Haller Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:30-2:30pm Tuesday at Haller's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westmoreland Place, 230 Cherry Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601, noting that the gift be directed to help purchase iPods for the residents.
