Ashton Junk

December 30, 1998 — January 17, 2018

Due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident on Wednesday morning, January 17, 2018, our precious Ashton Corinne Junk passed from this life through the gates of heaven, where our loving Lord awaited her with open arms.                        She was born December 30, 1998, in Chillicothe to Tricia Junk and Jamarr Brown.   Ashton is survived by her mother and step-father Tricia Junk and Melvin Washington; her father Jamarr Brown; sisters Lauren Junk and Kyla Beeler; a brother Jamarr Brown II; maternal grandparents Debbie (Kevin) Coe, all of Chillicothe; paternal grandmother Roberta Brown, of Virginia; maternal great-grandmother Faye Coe, Chillicothe; paternal aunts Coreen Brown and Robyn Burrell, both of Virginia; many great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins including special cousins Kim Cisco, Falon Cisco and Sarah Kohls; and many, many friends, including special friends Nicole McCorkle, Marissa Palmer, Angela Beechie and Shaniqua Knapp. Ashton was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Thomas M. Junk II; maternal great-grandparents Kenneth Coe; Jenny and Bankie Elliott; and Thomas and Patti Junk.   Ashton possessed the greatest of qualities, all of which will be so deeply missed. She was beautiful, with eyes like no other's, an unforgettable smile, a compassionate, loving and caring heart and a warm, sensitive soul that those deeply close to her could feel and understand . Her laughter was contagious and she was just a joy to be around. She was a graduate of Unioto High School, Class of 2017, achieving high honor roll throughout, and where she played and so enjoyed both softball and basketball her Jr. High and High School years. She was currently attending Ohio University-Chillicothe, pursuing a career in nursing. She worked at Dairy Queen in Chillicothe during her high school years, and was a trusted babysitter to many friends and family, because she embraced the opportunity to love and nurture babies and small children. Ashton's very serious side allowed her the determination to succeed at whatever endeavor she was involved in. Throughout her life, Ashton loved spending time with her family and friends. Her family is very touched and proud that Ashton chose to be an organ donor, and while her accident was tragic, her legacy will live on helping others in need.   The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Emergency Room staff at Adena hospital for their kindness and compassion extended to the family during such a tragic event. In addition, much gratitude to those individuals who first arrived on the scene of the accident and attended to Ashton until emergency responders arrived. Knowing she was not alone has given the family great comfort.   Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, January 23, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastors Kurt King and Euggle Robertson officiating. Kelly Howard and Ric McConnell from Zion Baptist Church will provide music. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4-8pm at Haller's.   Due to Ashton's love of animals, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ross County Humane Society, 2308A Lick Run Rd., Chillicothe.
