Arthur Monroe Jaggard, 86, of Chillicothe, passed away at 1:15pm, on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at National Church Residences Bristol Village, Waverly, OH. He was born in Altoona, PA, on July 30, 1929, to the late Ernest Plack and Thomasine Fairlamb (Smith) Jaggard. On June 27, 1953, he married Lois (Hoyer) Jaggard, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Rev. Dr. Arthur "Tres" M. Jaggard III and his wife Deborra (Lord), of Anderson, IN; Dr. Juliana H. Mortenson and her husband Mark, of Northeast, MD; and Johanna F. Priaulx and her husband Michael, of Beavercreek, OH; nine grandchildren, Sarah Jaggard Gilbertson and her husband Steve, Andrew Jaggard and his wife Megan, Ian Brooks and his wife Misty, Staff SGT. Graham Brooks and his wife Shannon, Phillip Mortenson, P. William Lee, Matthew Priaulx, Major Katharine Priaulx Milazzo and her husband Michael, and Natalie Priaulx Palsgrove and her husband Ryan; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Plack Jaggard. Art was an honorably discharged veteran, having served in the Army as a Captain during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Gould Inc. after working with them for 25 years. During his employment, he invented the Zinc Air hearing aid battery in the 1970's. Following his retirement, he went to work as a Plant Manager for the next 10 years at Parker Hannifin in Waverly. He was also the C.F.O. of Mt. Tabor Pottery. Arthur was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Chillicothe, where he served as deacon, chair of the finance committee, and taught Sunday school. He also was a member of the Adena Hospital Board for 12 years. He and his wife Lois met while competing on the same fencing team during college. They enjoyed many hobbies and activities together, including attending the Yankee Peddler's Festival every year in Canal Fulton, OH. They also ran a Christmas tree farm in Chillicothe. Art enjoyed sailing, playing bridge, chess, and golfing. He was an avid reader and loved magic. His family will remember his wonderful sense of humor and the great times they spent together. He will also be remembered for his famous pancake recipe with real maple syrup, the family fudge he would make, and also his steamed chocolate pudding. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 23 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. Burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends are welcome to gather from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday at Haller Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday.
