We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Anthony “Tony” Ryan Jalbuena, age 50, on April 18, 2026, at The Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital. After a brief illness, he was carried into heaven by the angels, where he was received by his Heavenly Father and reunited with his predeceased earthly father, Numeriano Jalbuena. Tony leaves behind a life of love, warmth, and cherished memories.
Tony was born on April 15, 1976, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Dr. Numeriano and Kathryn Jalbuena, with significant medical challenges that affected him from his very first days. Despite these obstacles, he lived a life full of gladness, connection, and simple pleasures that brought happiness not only to him but to all who knew him. We, his family, consider it a profound honor to have been chosen by God to walk alongside Tony through life, and we experienced the beauty of unconditional love and meaning on this journey.
As a small child, Tony delighted in a carefree life filled with the everyday joys of music, good food, horses, and the antics of his siblings and neighborhood children. As he grew older, his personality continued to shine. He loved dressing sharply and carrying himself with a sense of dignity and poise. Ever the gentleman, he charmed the ladies with generous hand kisses.
Tony experienced great excitement and adventure at Camp Cattail and Recreation Unlimited summer camps. He was a proud 1998 graduate of Pioneer School, where he forged many wonderful relationships that have endured over the years. He later attended First Capital Enterprises Day Hab and Frontier Community Services Options, building more friendships and remaining active in his community. He was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chillicothe, where he was loved beyond measure. He traveled extensively with his family, including across the United States and to the Philippines, his father’s homeland, reflecting the deep importance of family in his life. His father was very proud of Tony and his accomplishments.
Tony’s life was a testament to pure love, resilience, and the quiet power of kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Numeriano Jalbuena Jr. He is survived by his devoted mother, Kathryn Jalbuena of Chillicothe; his siblings, Amy Jalbuena and Dan Wade of Grove City, Ohio; Daniel Jalbuena of Chillicothe; and Tracy Jalbuena and James Cook of Camden, Maine; and his beloved nieces, Ellie Jalbuena-Cook, Theresa “Tess” Jalbuena-Cook, Nora Wade, and Josephine “Josie” Wade. He is also survived by numerous adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, and caregivers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10am, Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Stanislaus Jon, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-7pm at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where a wake service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Frontier Community Services.
