Ann Mureta

Ann W. Mureta Ann W. Mureta, 96, of Chillicothe, died 3:30 am, Friday, October 19, 2007 in her home, unexpectedly. Calling hours and Mass of Christian burial will be scheduled at a later date in Montpelier, VT. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home. She was born November 14, 1910 in Peacham, VT to Edward and Melvina Spinks Hamel. In 1936 she married Steve Mureta, who died in 1977. Survivors include three children, Joesph (Theresa) Mureta, and Betty LeRoy, both of Montpelier, VT, and Mary Parke, of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Agnes Demers, Lucille Spinks, Beatrice McManus and an infant; two brothers, Ralph and Edward Hamel; her mother, father and step-father, Samuel Thurston. Mrs. Mureta's family moved to Canada when she was three, and back to the United States when she was 10. She was educated in both Canadian and American schools. She loved to play bingo, cards, to knit and to dance, and she cared deeply for the family pets. However, the love of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
