Alma Walker

Alma L. Walker, 94, of Chillicothe, OH, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on June 3, 2013, at Valley View Nursing Facility, Frankfort, OH. She was born June 21, 1918, in Whitley County, KY. She received her Master's Degree from the University of Cincinnati and was a retired teacher of Norwood, OH public school system. She was a much loved, excellent life role model for all in her family and all who knew her. She displayed exquisite talents of the heart and soul: the talents of love, integrity, selflessness, altruism and courage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Walker; and a daughter Joan Wood-Ogletree. She is survived by her son, Bruce and his wife Barbara, of Chillicothe; six grandchildren: Kim Runions, and husband Jon, of Waverly, OH; Jennifer Hartsock, and husband Nathaniel, of Waukee, IA; Todd Walker and wife Elizabeth, of Bloomington, IN; Eric Walker, of Cincinnati, OH; Bruce Wood and wife Tonya, of Sherwood, AR; Cissy Manson and husband Tom, Charlotte, NC; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Troy Lay, of Dayton, OH; Roy Lay, near Nashville, TN; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and daughter, she was predeceased by her parents W. A. and Nannie Gibson Lay; four sisters: Margie Barrett; Etta Adkins; June Lay; and Polly Powell; and a brother James Lay. Funeral services and visitation will be held at the convenience of the family.
