Alinda L. (Wenzel) Bates, 85, of Mason, OH, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 3:50am on March 31, 2024, at Bethesda North Hospital, Montgomery, OH, following a brief illness.
She was born October 9, 1938, in Chillicothe to the late Nikolaus John and Dora Frances (Wilson) Wenzel. On March 26, 1955, she married William T. Bates, who preceded her in death on December 28, 2012.
Surviving are her sons William Bates (Jan Montarsi), of Milford, OH, and Dana Bates, of Mason, OH; a daughter Melea (Steve) McKenney, of Travelers Rest, SC; granddaughters Lindsey, Kelly, Emily, and Gabrielle; great-grandchildren Henry, Violet and Farah; a brother Nik (Martha) Wenzel, of Chillicothe; and sister Shirley Hazelwood, of Phoenix, AZ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law Gary Hazelwood.
Alinda attended Chillicothe High School and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church while they resided in Chillicothe. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish in Cincinnati. Alinda was very fulfilled by the successful catering business, Alinda's Catering, that she owned and operated. She loved her dog Oliver who would not leave her side and was grateful for the care her son Dana provided her in her final years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11am Tuesday April 9, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Chris Tuttle, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11am Tuesday at the church.
