Alexander Wilson

December 30, 1938 — April 10, 2025

Alexander A. Wilson, Jr. received Last Rites on April 9 th and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 10 th at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. Alex was born on December 30t 1938 in Ancon, C.Z. (Panama). He was born to Alexander A. Wilson, Sr. and Ann Edinger. He is survived by his half-sister Sallie (Wilson) Jayne and husband Henry Jayne, cousin Becky Purpero, nephew Joey Jayne and wife Melanie and their two sons Anthony and Mitchel, second cousin Cindy Bair, good friends John and Jan, Kay, Trevor and Jeremy.

Alex moved to the USA in 1939. From 1960 to 1966 Alex served in the US Army National Guard. He worked at Western Electric and then Chemical Abstract. After retiring went back to work at Staples for 6 years.

Alex was kind and considerate. He liked his solitude, which he spent reading and listening to Classical music (he also played piano). He spent many hours at the OSU Music Library among many other libraries. No matter what the weather, Alex was out walking every day. He was always feeding the birds or any other little animals wandering around outside. He was not one to sit at home. He was a good friend and he will be missed.

His family would like to thank the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team at Riverside Hospital and all the staff at Kobacker House. A special thank you to his nurse Deb at Kobacker House, she was very kind to Alex and his family.

Alex loved Shakespeare and Beethoven. He could speak and write some Latin. The day before Alex passed he quoted and wrote down the following:

"Plaudite, amici, comedia finita est"- Beethoven's last words.

Two of his favorite Shakespeare quotes are:

From King Lear: "Men must endure/Their going hence, even as their coming hither: Ripeness is all."

From Macbeth: After life's fitful fever he sleeps well. Treason has done his worst; nor steel nor poison, Malice domestic, foreign levy, nothing, can touch him further.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11:00am in Grandview Cemetery, with Father Christopher Tuttle officiating.
