International Evangelist Alberta C. Cousins, 86, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 2:32pm Friday, October 22, 2010, in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born July 24, 1924, in Ross Co. to the late Elijah and Lou Ellen Sanders Austin. In 1939, she married Oliver Wendell Cousins, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1977. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Wendell (Betty) Cousins, Jr., Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Donna (Richard) Hammond, Columbus; grandchildren: Andrea Cousins, Wendell Cousins III, Ollie C. Cousins, John Ragland, Jr., Jerry Hammond, Gregory Hammond, David (Sharon) Cousins, Mark Cousins, Michael Steed; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Gertrude Cousins, Aretta Valentine, Bessie (Tommy) Thornton, Sylvia Tanner, Shirley Smith, Connie (Brenton) Austin; brothers George Austin, Homer (Kay) Austin, Enos Austin, John (Carol) Austin, Richard Austin; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend Irene Tanner. She was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Steed-Morrison; grandson Harry Anthony Cousins; brothers Elijah and Bonfiles Austin; and sisters Ruth Stewart and Charlotte Vaughn. Mrs. Cousins was involved in Ministry for over 52 years. She was the Pastor of Emanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. She served the Lord and her community in many capacities, including as a National Youth Advisor. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, October 26, in the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 65 W 4th St., with Bishop Edward Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
