Aaron Thomas McCord, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Monday, September 2, 2013, at the age of 51, following a brief illness. Aaron was born June 2, 1962, in Ross County to Charles and Evon (Arledge) McCord. He was a graduate of Bishop Flaget and Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School. On September 24, 2002, he married the love of his life, Karen. He was a long-time employee of the Chillicothe Correctional Institute. He also worked for Tumbleweed Restaurant as a maintenance employee and ran his own window washing service. He was a proud long-standing member of the Scioto Township Fire Department 1227 and served as Captain of Northfork Village Station 2. He also served as a member of the Scioto Twp. Fire Dept. Water Rescue Team. Aaron was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 600. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Thomas McCord, in 1991. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Evans) McCord, Chillicothe; his mother and step-father Evon "Honey" and David Mahoney, Baton Rouge, LA; his children Aaron "Woody" (Allison) McCord, of Seattle, WA; Ryan McCord, Clarksburg; Stephanie (Brad) Simpson, Chillicothe; Adam Bobo, Chillicothe; sisters Kimberly McCord, Chillicothe; and Kathryn Mahoney, Denver, CO; brothers Michael Mahoney, Fairfax, VT; and Jeffrey Mahoney, Muncie, IN; his two grandchildren: Natalie and Brandon Simpson; and he was looking forward to meeting his third grandchild expected in March. Much of Aaron's life was spent serving others and he chose to continue that tradition by being an organ donor. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Adena Regional Medical Center and their many friends of the Scioto Township Firefighters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, September 6, at the HALLER FUNERAL HOME with Adena Hospice Chaplain Bruce Hines and Rev. Tom Jividen officiating. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 3-7pm at Haller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scioto Twp. Fire Dept., 164 S.
