Aaron L. Ewry, 61, passed from this life into the gates of Heaven on January 28, 2014, after a brief illness, to be reunited with his family and friends that have passed before. He was born August 21, 1952 to the late Dwight C. and Doris Windhurst Ewry Sr. On August 11, 1973 he married Melissa J. Bland, who preceded him in death on December 29, 2012. Survivors include his stepmother, Flossie Ewry Anderson, Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Keith Elder, Chillicothe; a son, Adam Ewry, Kingston; grandchildren, Christian "Kole" Faulkner, Luzella Faulkner, and MacKenzie Elder; a step-grandson, Kirk Elder; a brother and sister-in-law, Lewie and Nancy Ewry, Bainbridge; a sister, Karrol Ewry, Chillicothe; a half brother, Jay Yoakem, Canton; and several nieces; nephews; uncles; aunts; and best friends, Hobart Tilton and Bryan Meade. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight C. Ewry Jr. Aaron served in the US Army from 1972 to 1975, including a tour in Germany. He retired after 35 years for the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was active in cub scouting as a child, with his father, and has passed this tradition down to his son and grandson. He was a very active member of Boy Scout Troop 33 as a leader and mentor for the boys who each had a special place in his heart. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he volunteered in the Men's Prayer Breakfast, enjoyed the fellowship, and had numerous friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday at First United Methodist Church, Rev. Leslie Allen officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veteran's Honor Guard, will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call 2-4 pm Sunday at the HALLER FUNERAL HOME.
