Joann Thomas

Joann (Beverly) “Jody” Thomas, 63, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on June 9, 2012, at 12:00pm midnight in Grant Medical Center, Columbus. She was born July 12, 1948, in Chillicothe, to the late Walter and Elsie (Mayo) Beverly.

She leaves behind family that will miss her, her children: Roxanne (Rod) Brown; Howard (Kristie) Thomas, Jr.; and Joshua (Dorothy) Thomas; her grandchildren: Noah Thomas; Jalen and Nevaeh Brown; Karrah and Kanin Johnson; and Isaiah Lovejoy; her 3 sisters: Rose (Beverly) Hamrick; Betsy Sue (Beverly) Walker, both of Chillicothe; and Rebecca Beverly, Grove City; her 2 brothers Philip Beverly, Chillicothe; and James Beverly, Virginia; 3 adopted sisters: Karen, Dorothy and Patricia; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends including several special friends who know who they are. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard E. Thomas, Sr.; brothers Walter, Jr. and Frederick Beverly; and an infant son.

Joann worked at the former Chillicothe Hospital and Adena Regional Medical Center combined for over 28 years as a nursing assistant. She was baptized in Columbus, OH at the Emmanuel Tabernacle Baptist Church Apostolic Faith. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, June 14, at the First Baptist Church, 65 W. Fourth St., with Rev. Jonathan McReynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church.
