Nancy Mae Hamilton

Nancy Mae Hamilton, 68, of Chillicothe, died 1:50 pm April 27, 2012, at home, following an extended illness, surrounded by family and loved ones.

She was born December 22, 1943 in Columbus to William J. and MaryEllen Speaks Hamilton. Survivors include her mother; two sisters, Esther (David) Hawk and Phyllis (Delbert) Ashworth; nieces and nephews, Brenda (Todd) Snyder, Mark (Sally) Ashworth, Christina (Jason) Arms, Lonnie (Jamie) Hawk, and Scott (Rachel) Ashworth; great nieces and nephews, Justin Allen, Trent, Corissa, Justin Ray Ashworth, Caitlyn and Christian Snyder, Alecia, Alexis, Austin and Aubrey Arms, and Courtney Ashworth; and her special cat Windy. She was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Patricia Ann Hamilton; her grandparents, James and Margaret Speaks and Grover and Catherine Hamilton; and two great-great nephews, Dallas and Delbert Ashworth.

Nancy graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1963. She worked for Goodwill Industries, First National Bank, BancOhio, and National City Bank. She served as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Board Member of Concerned Citizens for the Handicapped. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church and recently attended The Good Hope Church of God. Nancy enjoyed gospel and country music. She enjoyed helping our community better serve its handicapped citizens. She devoted endless hours working to get a transport system in Chillicothe and always encouraged others to be proud and to be the best they could be regardless of any physical disabilities.

Nancy and her family appreciated the wonderful care and friendship of her nurses, Lori Bartoe, Tracy Carrico, Chris Dove, Cathie McNeal, Liz Thompson; her case manager, Nancy Harkless; and her hospice care providers.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call 5-8 pm Monday at Haller’s.
