Linda L. Hartley, 81, of Chillicothe, died April 20, 2012, in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born February 27, 1931, in Yeager, KY, to the late Andrew Jackson and Elizabeth (Johnson) Potter. On July 24, 1951, she married M. James Hartley, who survives.
Also surviving are their children: Linda Susan (Randy) Smith, Chillicothe; Nancy Lin Keppler, Galena, OH; James Alan (Starr) Hartley, Chillicothe; M. Jack (Beverly) Hartley, Wilmington, DE; Kerry Lou (Thomas) Congrove, Commercial Point, OH; grandchildren: Dustin (Tia) Manring; Kristen Keppler; Matthew Keppler; Jack Andrew (Nora) Hartley; Thomas James Congrove; Mitchell Andrew (Lili Ana) Congrove; a great-grandson Colton Kyle Manring; sisters Ethel Silvey; Flaudeen Dickerson; Peggy (Ray) Miller; Sally (Gary) Fridenmaker; sisters-in-law Anna Belle Linton; Loretta Betts; Martha (Charles) Gilliand; Mary McCray; Jeannie (Keith) Jordan; brothers-in-law Bob Hartley and John (Carolyn) Hartley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Abram Potter; sisters Evelyn Compton; Charlotte Thomas; Jackie Davis; and brothers-in-law Thomas L. and Donald E. Hartley.
Linda retired from working in the cafeteria of the Chillicothe City Schools just last November. She was member of Tyler United Methodist Church for over 44 years. Among her many activities during her membership at Tyler, she especially enjoyed making prayer shawls and visiting the sick members of the church. She also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Her many interests and hobbies include gardening, cooking, walking, hunting mushrooms, knitting, quilting, working crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and online Words with Friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10am Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Rossman and Rev. Rick Birk officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.
